Win.

So it looks like things are finished, and everyone is pretty pleased. You can find Khuskan’s original post here, and it is shown below:

Well, suffice to say a lot of you have been following the recent goings on. The leak was a call to arms for the developers, and it was a huge indication in unrest with our development methods, and we reacted aggressively instead of assertively trying to fight the leak instead of trying to address the actual issues.

Those responsible for the leak may have had extreme methods, but their point was fair. Shortly, a post will be made with their proposals and ideas for sf2.0, which will be taken into consideration and all forum members will be able to discuss the ideas. This does mean the accounts of those responsible will be unbanned on the forums and following that the IRC.

The wiki will be updated soon to outline what has happened over the last few weeks, but hopefully the wounds caused by this community issue will heal quickly and we’ll get back down to making the game we should have been making all along.

Consider this an apology on behalf of the development team;

We’re sorry in that we didn’t listen as much as we should do, and we made a lot of important decisions without even letting you guys know.

There will be some changes and interesting events to come, so keep on the forums!
Registration has been enabled again.

Thanks to everyone that gave their support, and everyone that gave their constructive criticism.

A VERY special thank you to everyone who sent us death-threats.

Cya.

PS:  FicWill down.

Update:  The build should remain up at the link provided on the sidebar on the right.  Let us know if it goes down and we’ll post another of many links.

The 2.0 build is still available for download.

Rename your folder to sourceforts2, drop it in your SourceMods folder, and play/vomit.

There is also a thread with a bunch of screenshots showing just how ugly and weird SourceForts apparently will be.

Sayyan has written up a nice response to KG’s post made here, where he basically tries to be a real stern hard-ass and assert some kind of undeserved authority. We all had a good laugh.

I guess others were as full of LOLs as we were, because shortly thereafter, the forums were full of bullshit and lots of bannings. It was an awesome and uncoordinated Fuck-You to KG and his moronic fascist crap.

The devs have since disabled registration, but just in time for “If you ban this u r gay” to register. Should be funny to see that account down there all the time until they open it back up.

If you’re going to act like tough shits, we’ll just have to make things worse.

Some FUCKING forums!

We’ve got a forum set up for uncensored discussion of the leak, 2.0, and whatever the hell you want.

Here it is, POWPOW.  Register and say some shit.

To make a nice change of pace I decided to upload my holiday pics on the Suverin site.

Be sure to check them out, only 230mb or so in a nice and easy .rar file.

 [Tony[`]] Hey here’s an idea:
[cw|Jon] i leik ideas
[Tony[`]] let’s not make judgements about a game that was A) stolen, B) stolen without all the appropriate/necessary files, C) nowhere near completion, and D) even by now, COMPLETELY outdated

It’s perfectly fine for devs to tell us how awesome and fun the laughably incomplete 2.0 is, but it’s NOT okay for people to judge for themselves? MANY LOLS.

(he doesn’t really have leukemia, chill out.)

Fuckin Awesome.

(Download link for SF 2.0 is listed below)

While the forums are down, come join us in #BattleOfElMazuco on Gamesurge.irc.net, which is the only place you’ll find open discussion of the leak and anything the developers are doing. Maybe we’ll get a public forum up for everyone.

And is the forum going down a response to the leak? Well, probably not:

(right-click and view image to read it)

That was taken from the private staff forums. There are two interesting parts here:

- “KG and I propose that we take one or two weeks with the forums offline for a bit with a message in it’s place.” This was said on the 14th, while today is the 27th, so it’s been in planning for awhile.

- “Another such proposal is to squelch user/developer interactions as much as possible in all senses.” So basically, talking to the developers would just not happen.

More soon. We’re not done by any means.

Oh, and there was never a virus, or a keylogger, or gay horse porn. Just more lies to discourage you from trying it for yourself.

What you’ve been waiting for.

Here it is, the build of SourceForts 2.0 that has been discussed here. It’s a 204mb self-extracting exe file. Put it in your steamapps folder.

Be assured that the developers will try to pull this down wherever it appears, but efforts will be made to keep it accessible. Feel free to host it yourselves if you so choose.

This post shall end on a quote from the Editor of the College of Journalism, Kevin Marsh, coincidentally made several hours after this release.

“Leaks – private briefings – are a basic tool of the journalist. They satisfy one of the first conditions of news; revealing something significant that those outside a small circle of privileged people don’t know.

They can be irritating and embarrassing for those in positions of power, authority and influence… and that’s sort of the point. Without leaks and whistleblowers a long list of abuses of power would have remained unknown. Even small leaks are a constant reminder to those we allow to govern us that we want to know what they’re really doing in our name… not just what they choose to tell us.”
